Adding FTP feature to TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND router

FTP is a method of transmitting or recieving files across the Internet and stands for File Transfer Protocol. This article guide you on how to enable FTP  function on the OpenWRT router.

It is assumed that the router is flashed with OpenWRT. See this article if you haven't upgrade firmware to Openwrt.

 
 
Install FTP Package
SSH to router and install vsftpd module as shown in figure below.

Install FTP Package 

 

 The vsftpd must be start on each router power on.

  • Login to router
  • Click on System and then select Statup
  • Enable vsftpd
  • Reboot the router

OpenWRT Statup

Done! The FTP service is started and now you can login with FTP client to manage files/folders.

 

Login with FileZilla or WinSCP

There are many free FTP client software arround. I personallly like to use FileZilla and WinSCP.
